What is a pressure tank?
A pressure tank — also called a pressure vessel or expansion vessel — holds water under pressure and delivers it to the service pipeline at a constant pressure. Its main job is to keep the pressure steady in the pipeline and to cut down how often the pump switches on and off, preventing the constant start/stop cycling that wears pumps out.
How it works
A pressure tank doesn't create pressure on its own. The booster pump fills a bladder or diaphragm inside the tank, compressing a cushion of pre-charged air. When a tap, valve or fixture opens, that air cushion pushes the stored water back into the line — so small demands are met instantly, without starting the pump every time.

Bladder vs diaphragm pressure tanks
Both separate the air cushion from the water to prevent waterlogging and corrosion — they differ mainly in servicing.
Bladder tank
Replaceable bladder
A balloon-like bladder holds the water, fully isolated from the steel shell. If it ever wears, only the bladder is replaced — the tank body is reused. Well suited to larger systems and easy long-term servicing.
Diaphragm tank
Fixed membrane
A membrane bonded inside the tank separates air and water. Compact, sealed, low-maintenance and cost-effective — a common choice for smaller residential and booster applications.

What is a pressure tank / pressure vessel?
A pressure tank (also called a pressure vessel or expansion vessel) holds water under pressure and supplies it to the pipeline at a constant pressure. It keeps pressure steady and reduces how often the pump switches on and off, which protects the pump from short-cycling.
How does a pressure tank work with a booster pump?
The pump fills a bladder or diaphragm inside the tank, compressing a cushion of pre-charged air. When a tap or valve opens, the air cushion pushes the stored water back into the line, so small demands are served instantly. The tank itself doesn't create pressure — it stores it.
Why do I need a pressure tank?
Without one, the pump starts and stops every time water is drawn, causing rapid cycling that wears out the motor and wastes energy. A correctly sized pressure tank steadies the pressure, extends pump life, saves energy and helps protect the pipework from water hammer.
What's the difference between a bladder tank and a diaphragm tank?
Both separate the air cushion from the water. A bladder tank uses a replaceable balloon-like bladder — if it wears, only the bladder is changed. A diaphragm tank uses a fixed membrane bonded to the shell; it's compact, sealed and low-maintenance. We'll recommend the best fit for your system.
What size pressure tank do I need?

Reflex or Challenger — which should I choose?
Both are premium brands with a two-year warranty. Reflex (Refix DE) is tested to SS375:2001 and is ideal where PUB drinking-water compliance is needed. Challenger / Global Water Solutions offers PressureWave, Challenger and SuperFlow series covering domestic booster sets up to large high-rise and industrial systems. We'll advise based on your pressure, volume and compliance needs.
Are your pressure tanks safe for drinking water and PUB compliant?
Yes. The Reflex pressure tanks we supply are tested to Singapore Standard SS375:2001 for materials in contact with drinking water, making them suitable and PUB-compliant for potable water systems.
What pressure ratings and warranty do you offer?
Tanks are available in 10, 16 and 25 bar ratings across the full size range. All pressure tanks we supply and install are genuine products from globally recognised manufacturers and carry a two-year warranty.
